The firm was originally established in 1982 when Stephen M. Martin began his practice as a sole practitioner. In 2006, the firm became Martin & Mennecke when Steve's daughter, Amy M. Mennecke, joined the firm as his partner. In 2013, Steve left the firm to act as Corporation Counsel for the City of Waukegan until his retirement in 2017. In 2016, Christopher P.Hughes joined the firm and brought 14 years of experience in real estate (residential and commercial), business law, estate planning and litigation.
